Brunch at All Bar One, Chester
You know life is good when a friend takes you out for a brunch (read the best meal of the day) and also pays for it (thanks Terri - on a gift card, but nonetheless paying for one's food is one of the most highly regarded ways of appreciation, right?). I'm talking about the day when Terri, Charl (see her blog here) & I set out on a road trip to Chester - the city of Roman walls (I do think there's just one but I'll let your imagination run wild), an immense amount of charity shops & a plethora of cosy cafes and restaurants to choose from. Our first stop was All Bar One - right in the very centre of Chester opposite the Roman Amphitheatre.

🍳 Brunch at All Bar One
If there's one brunch item you have to order from their breakfast & brunch menu then it's the Brunch Board - for two to share (but I'm pretty sure it would do for three if you're not particularly hungry). The board is served with a selection of all things brunchy - from the Severn & Wye smoked salmon and scrambled eggs to a toasted sour dough with smashed avocado and beetroot humous, some grilled feta, seasonal mushrooms sauteed in garlic (my favourite!) and parsley butter topped with poached free range eggs. You also get two small glasses of cold pressed juice, which make for the perfect addition to the board.

This gorgeous and super filling Brunch Board wouldn't need any extras but because we were absolutely starving we also ordered a traditional brunch option each. I went for the Huevos Rancheros because lately I've been ridiculously obsessed with hot sauces (Frank's Cayenne sauce is actual LIFE!). This brunch is apparently a traditional Mexican breakfast (another country I'd happily moved to just for the food). It's essentially a lightly grilled tortilla topped with fresh tomato salsa & black bean salsa, two fried free range eggs, avocado, spring onion & red chilli. It was so nice and fresh although I do have to admit that I wasn't sure how to eat the tortilla unless I wrapped the whole dish in it. I ain't a very sophisticated eater though so I'm completely accepting all the blame for this one. You can see what Terri & Charl had by click here.

🍹Other fancy things you can do at All Bar One
All Bar One is not just about brunches - they do lots of other exciting things (like lunches, and dinners, and cocktails, obviously - but there's more!). You can also join their Cocktail Masterclasses where an expert mixologist teaches you more about cocktail history as well as how to mix & shake your favourite cocktail! You can find out more about these masterclasses here. And if you're craving some of the All Bar One specialities from their meal menu (that Chicken Katsu!) then you can have them delivered to your door by Deliveroo!

The interior of All Bar One is cosy with a mix of modern & industrial interior decor. I'm definitely going to be popping back in for some Eggs Benedict because they look insane! The value is also spot on - for £6.50 you get your brunch PLUS a hot drink (and the brunch itself is usually slightly more than £6.50 on its own anyways so it's a win win). You can browse their full menus here.
