DIY hanging macrame planter
Mother's Day is just around the corner and you know what the best gift for your mum is? A handmade one. No matter how old you are, mums always appreciate a good handmade something. And with spring coming up and all things green around why not make your mum a pretty (and damn easy!) hanging macrame planter? You only need 4 things and it takes less than 5 minutes (but you can easily pretend you spent days on it).

What will you need?
🌿 rope (twine or jute string works fine too)
🌿 curtain rod ring
🌿 a plant of choice (mine is Boston fern)
🌿 hanging planter wall hook (optional)

And how to make your own hanging macrame planter?
It's ever so simple! You can follow this easy tutorial for a super simply macrame. To get those fancy knotted parts you will have to use 16 2m strands to start with and then do as many half knots (also called twisted knots - see how to make them here) as you want. Once you've done the length you like just cut off the remaining stands from the knot weave. Then continue according to the tutorial above. I've used a bowl from the DIY cactus terrarium tutorial but you can use any planter and plant you want! They have so many available in Homebase here (and my Boston fern is only £3.99!).

And if macrame is not for you then browse other DIYs on the Homebase website right here. From  a personalised tray to decoupage tile coasters, you'll find something that will work for you!

Do you ever make gifts for Mother's Day?
Or do you just stick to the traditional bouquet & a card?
