Maybelline Color Elixirs review and swatches
There's something magical about hyped up products which you can't get in the UK (just yet). A perfect example of this are the Maybelline Color Elixirs - the infamous hybrids between lipsticks & lip glosses from the US. With these products you can never be sure whether the hype is real or whether it's grown because here in the UK we can't get our mitts on it. Let's have a look what my thoughts are on Maybelline Color Elixirs in Petal Plush & Fuchsia Flourish

The design of these is pretty sweet - I really like the sleek packaging and a funky applicator. Now what I'm not so impressed about is the product itself. I cannot really grasp why are these labeled as 'hybrids'. I would say they are strongly pigmented lipglosses, and that is if I'm being overly optimistic. The consistency is not sticky like majority of lipglosses, but it's definitely not longlasting and you cannot just pop them on - they require quite a precise and careful application, especially the darker shade (Fuchsia Flourish). There is quite a difference between the paler and the more vivid shade - Petal Plush is really sheer with chunky glitter (quite standard drugstore lip gloss attributes) while Fuchsia Flourish is super pigmented but on my lips it doesn't stay put for longer than about an hour (and I can't eat/drink/breathe). *sigh* Overall - nice lipglosses, but definitely not worth the super mega uber hype that's been created around them.

You can get these on US Amazon here for about $7 a pop - and yes, they deliver to the UK, so you can order them no problemo.
