Independent Brum for students: Victorian Restaurant

Did you know that Birmingham was given a city status in 1889? Apart from this amazing piece of knowledge I'm sharing with you today, I'd like to introduce you to a student venue on budget  - Victorian Restaurant in Great Western Arcade.

Great Western Arcade is a truly beautiful little part of Birmingham, which is, sadly, not as well known as it would deserve. This stunning Victorian style arcade features unique independent boutique shops and eating places, from deliciously smelling Italian inspired bakery shop to a real Whiskey store with bottles costing hundreds of pounds. Apart from a few sandwich/snack places & one bistro, the main lunch location is the Victorian Restaurant. We popped in the other day for a quick lunch & each of us had a bowl of tasty chicken soup with a crunchy just-baked baguette for £2.50 - even the most modest & savvy student can afford a trip to this sweet little restaurant, I say! The atmosphere was very traditional English with a hint of Italian cafe feel to it, and the staff was super duper friendly! Four & half stars, that is.
