Homemade cat treats with tuna & catnip (+ DIY jar for cat treats)
Lately I have been writing a lot about cat food - a proper cat food in particular. If you're interested in the Feline Foodology series then click away to find out more and if you're here just for your dose of Sunday DIY and cat pictures then I'm hoping I won't disappoint either! To connect the two I have created my own homemade kitty treats recipe as well as a fancy storage jar so the treats stays as fresh as possible! And I have to say that these might just be Cookie & Pipp's most favourite ones yet!!!

What will you need for these homemade kitty treats?

🐾 1 tbsp of dry catnip
🐾 1 can of tuna (look for the one in brine or spring water with minimum amount of salt)
🐾 1 tbsp olive oil
🐾 1 egg (make sure your cat's not allergic to eggs!)

Mix all the ingredients together, scoop out tiny little chunks on a parchment paper and bake for about 10-15 minutes until crunchy. Store in the fridge for max a week. They are delicious and don't contain any carbs! Recently I've also found out that fish is not a particularly healthy part of cats diet due to the amount of mercury it can contain however these are just little treats, not a standard kibble so it most definitely won't harm them - and if anything at least I know what I've put in the treats rather than guessing what's actually inside of a Dreamie.

How to make a DIY animal top jar?

🦁 a toy lion
🦁 a Kilner jar
🦁 a hot glue gun
🦁 Rust-Oleum Metallic spray paint in Bright Gold (this one)

I've spray painted the lid (both parts) and the lion and once their were completely dry I used the hot glue gun to secure both parts of the lid and the lion together. Et voila!

A tip for you: If you get a lid that's made out of just 1 part rather than 2 (I already had it at home so didn't want to buy another one) then you won't be able to see the little droplets of glue because the lion will sight tightly on the top.

I hope you've enjoyed these two super quick Sunday DIYs and you're having a lovely weekend!
