New lunch menu at Jamie's Italian, Birmingham
How can you spot a good restaurant? It's one that's absolutely booming. And that's what Jamie's Italian at the Bullring, Birmingham is every single time I'm walking past. It's located at the perfect lunch-after-a-long-day-of-shopping location just between the busy Bullring and the new Smithfields development. To cater for these impromptu lunches for ladies & gents, perhaps even for those working in the centre or those who just stumble upon this part of town, Jamie's Italian have put together a special Super Lunch menu.

You already know that I do have a little bit of a thing for Jamie's - when Shaun lived in Oxford we often popped into the Jamie's Pizzeria there - they make a bloody fabulous pizza there they do! But I've never been to the Birmingham one before - until last week! After an inspiring social media workshop with Ana from The She Approach we ventured to Jamie's for a quick bite.

💡 Industrial Interior
I always appreciate a good interior design job in a restaurant. Jamie's took a plunge and went with interior inspired by Birmingham's rich industrial heritage. There are a lot of steel pipes, bare wood, red bricks and gunmetal detailing going on - with pops of colour tying it in with the traditional Italian vibe that Jamie's restaurants are known for. The whole restaurant is an open plan with very high ceilings which works very well with the overall heavy industrial feel giving it a bright and airy edge.

🍝 Super Lunch Menu
For starters we had Fritto Misto (crispy fried fish & squid tossed in fennel-spiced flour with garlic & lemon aioli) which was right up my street - although I do have to say that the garlic aioli is an absolute no go if you're on your first (or second, perhaps even third!) date. Try their Silky Patte Bruschetta instead - it's topped with Italian chicken-liver pâté, a few slices of pancetta, vin santo & Parmesan on top. This one's a much less romance-damaging option! For mains we had Italian Steak & Fries and Oxtail Tagliatelle. Both equally as nice - my tagliatelle were topped with a slow cooked oxtail and Chianti ragu which was particularly delicious! For dessert we had some Wobbly Panna Cotta with some mint on top which was very refreshing and an Epic Brownie with proper chocolate sauce, salted caramel ice cream and caramelised popcorn (which has overshadowed my Wobbly Panna Cotta like no other!).

The value of the Super Lunch menu is definitely hard to beat - you can get either two courses for £11.95 or three courses for £13.95. These are available Monday to Friday, from noon until 6pm. You can see the full menu here.

Overall the Super Lunch Menu at Jamie's Italian is a staple when you're after a quick but delicious lunch - the location is perfect, the food was delicious, the service was ever so lovely and there was absolutely no waiting around despite the restaurant being full.
