Feline Foodology has incredibly quickly become a very popular feature on Cityscape Bliss - thank you! It's great to hear that so many of you are interested in reading about proper cat food and what to look out for when picking kibble for your little critters. After making our very own homemade cat treats it has become even more difficult to find treats that match up. This week we've discovered Thrive!
🍤 100% real shrimp treats by Thrive
Very similar to the gourmet beef liver treats by Pet Munchies, Thrive treats are made by freeze drying the meat which essentially preserves it without any extra chemicals or additives. This is absolutely amazing because it means your cat is getting the purest form of food - in this case it's 100% shrimp (& 0% nonsense, as Thrive like to add). Pippin's going absolutely mental for them, like really wild - she even puts her whole paw in the tub to fish some out! Cookie, on the other hand, is not entirely convinced. He prefers them to little fishy looking treats by miles but he doesn't eat one until he's seen Pippin stuff her face with them. The picky youth these days, huh!
Ingredients: Shrimp 100%
Analytical components: Crude protein 74.6%, crude oil & fat 4.3%, crude fibre 0.5%, crude ash 16.7%
Price: £3.99 for 18g
You can buy these treats at Pets at Home here, or you can get a huge 110g tub from Pet & Country here.
To learn more about proper cat food you can grab a copy of Jenny's book Cats off the Carbs here - it's a great little guide if you're looking to start feeding your cat a proper food! And just to reiterate (and give you an example of what kind of information you can find in the book) - a good cat food is
High in animal proteinModerate in fatLow in carbohydrates
What are you feeding your cats at the moment?
Have you ever tried reading the labels & deciphering what they mean?
💭 Totally not sponsored - Jenny was kind enough to share her book Cats off the Carbs with me (thank you!) however all the picky feline habits, beany toesies and stinky toots after eating too much 100% shrimp are our very own.
💭 I don't claim to be an expert in cat food - all my knowledge is gathered from Jenny's book, the internets and my own personal experience, however I'm genuinely hoping this series will help others understand the importance of proper cat food.
